Scrapfest 2013

It's been quiet over here, but things should be picking up. The bathroom remodel is almost officially finished, and access to the light tent has been restored. These two weeks, in particular, were and are busy - trips for fun and for business.

Fun from this past weekend - Scrapfest 2013 - at the Mall of America in the TC.

Lots of Knitting and the final Hurrah for (this year) Christmas Cards

Spoilers! (Fortunately, I don't think anyone who will be receiving these gifts actually checks this blog...).

This previous weekend, we had a lot of snow, so on Sunday, I was really productive --- finished (dare I even say it!) my Christmas cards, wrapped most gifts, and finished one of the last two baby sweaters that I have to make for the holidays. If only the sweater I had finished was the bigger of the two!

Holiday countdown --- really loving the turban(d) pattern, so here's the goal:
1. Finish 2 or 3 more Turban(d)s
2. Finish Little Toboggan Sweater size 1-2 years
3. Write all Christmas card notes and mail out
4. Mail out all Christmas/birthday packages this week

Here are some of the fruits of my labors...

Little Toboggan Sweater #1 (size 6-12 mos)

Yarn: Sublime Yarn Baby Cashmerino DK
Needles: Sizes 3 and 6

Turban(d)

Yarn: Encore Mega (cream) - 1 skein
Needles: Size 10.5
Modifications: Cast on 19 (although needed an extra stitch when I did the twist)

And a last minute push on holiday cards -- I made 16 of these. Loved how they turned out!

Materials:
Paper: Misc. Bazzill cardstock, Archivers watercolor paper
Stamps/Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black, Versafine - Onyx Black, Northwoods Rubber Stamps - Holly stamp
Cutting/Embossing: Ranger superfine clear embossing powder
Misc.: Lace and Xmas Red Stickles, Tombow markers

Some Random Cards

These were are some cards that I created recently that just didn't seem to find a place to fit in all the other card postings that have been put together recently.

This is a card that was completely inspired by a card that I saw in the Hero Arts Flickr group. I wanted to do something similar with snowflakes -- I used a variety of snowflake stamps, lots from Hero Arts and a Hero Arts holiday sentiment clear set. The inks are a variety of blue TH Distress Inks. This was a fun masking technique to try!

And here's a card that I put together using a Thanksgiving/Halloween stamp from Northwoods Rubber Stamps, colored with copics, slathered with stickles, and covered with punched leaves.

Chickies, Knitting, Card Sets

I've been away for a bit, but not for lack of being busy.

Here's some knitting... a stocking and a card set/gift basket both for charities...

The snowman is just something I made up and needle felted (see earlier post with felt stocking).

The basket has a stained glass snowman with a cardinal (made by my Dad), cardinal sugar cookies from Cookie Temptations, and cardinal cards -- see below.

Here are some card sets I'm giving away as gifts this year --- very CAS, so easy to mass produce. The coloring takes the longest, but is the most fun, for the Northwoods cardinal stamps.
