Craft Dash!

It's been a little while since I played over at Pretty Pink Posh's Craft Dash, and I had a little extra time this evening, so I decided to give it a go.

Here are the colors:

Here's mine:

Time: 9:14:48

Regrets - I stamped on the wrong side of the white circle, and I wish I'd chosen a different, larger sentiment and stamped it in black -- but I was running out of time. Oh, well! My craft room is a MESS!! Paint everywhere, inky fingers, yikes! Probably wouldn't try the paints as a background again in 10 minutes... had to dab it dry with a paper towel and then dry with heat gun... took way too long! Also, colors were more vibrant than I anticipated --- these particular colors of distress paints are freshly arrived from Amazon. I think they are a phenomenal product!

And, actually, I couldn't stand it --- I touched it up. Here's the final version!

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Hero Arts Brush strokes stamp sets... as I try to be patient, I've been experimenting with some neat background ideas with the TH Distress paints. For this one, I layered down the three paints on my mat (just swiped across), spritzed water generously, wiped the watercolor paper across the paint (would have let it air dry, but no time), so gently dabbed away extra paint with paper towel, and dried with heat gun.

Materials
Paper: Hero Arts watercolor paper, Neenah - Solar White, misc. Bazzill cardstock
Stamps/Inks: Hero Arts Shadow Inks - Soft Pool, Hero Arts - Small Solid Flower and Many Birthday Messages, Lawn Fawn - Year Three
Cutting/Embossing: Spellbinder's Nestabilities - Standard Circles
Misc.: Verve seam binding, enamel dots, TH Distress paints - Salty Ocean, Barn Door, and Mustard Seed

Craft Dash!!!

Here's the next color challenge for 10 Minute Craft Dash, hosted by Paulina and Ginny...

How to Play
1) Create a card/craft project within 10 minutes using the color palette above

2) Post the time it took to create
You can pull out your supplies before your timer starts!
  • Challenge ends September 29, 2012 at 11:59pm, PST.

 Here's mine:

Time: 9:08
I have a really hard time coming up with a good idea before I start - I basically just threw a bunch of paper, copic markers, and a couple of Lawn Fawn stamp sets that I thought I might like, and I just kind of went with it... as a result, it really seemed like I was frantically down to the wire. Good exercise, though, and it really makes you more aware of how much time/effort really goes into making a card.

Materials:
Paper: Misc. Bazzill cardstock, Neenah - Solar White, kraft, Lily Bee Design - Victoria Park
Stamps/Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black, TH Distress Ink - Picked Raspberry, Lawn Fawn - Plus One
Cutting/Embossing: Corner Rounder
Misc.: Ribbon - May Arts, Copic markers, dimensional adhessive

10 minute Craft Challenge

This was HARD!!! You have no idea how stressful it is to line up things before taping them down -- and stamping things straight with a time limit. Anyway, learned something in this one...

To see the details, visit Paulina's blog over at Pretty Pink Posh --- essentially the challenge is to create a card from start to finish in under 10 minutes (only allowed to set out supplies beforehand), with the added bonus of having to meet the criteria of the color challenge (light blue, turquoise, and light green).

Here's my creation:

Finish time: 9:33

Materials:
Paper: Misc. Bazzil cardstock, Lilybee Design - Victoria Park tablet, Teresa Collins - Spring Fling
Stamps/Inks: Memento - Paris Dusk, Verve Stamps - Wonderfully Made
Cutting/Embossing: Spellbinder's Nestabilities - not sure which label
Misc.: Liquid Pearls (white) and dimensional adhesive
